Author Guidelines

Articles by doctors of science, candidates of science, young scientists, and practitioners in the following fields of science are accepted for publication: law, public administration, sociology, political science, and economics.

Programme objectives (basic principles) of the publication: dissemination of information and creation of a scientific interdisciplinary platform for discussions between scientists, lawyers, governmental and non-governmental institutions, with a focus on the legal aspects of migration, integrated border management, protection of the rights and freedoms of migrants and internally displaced persons, migrants' access to social security and assistance, the formation and implementation of state migration policy, demography, tourism, the development and implementation of IT in migration processes, etc.

Languages of publication
Publications are submitted in Ukrainian or English, but certain elements are submitted in several languages.

Requirements for article formatting
Please adhere to the rules for formatting manuscripts for the scientific journal “Migration & Law”.

Manuscripts must be formatted in accordance with state standards and meet the requirements of Resolution No. 7-05/1 of the Higher Attestation Commission of Ukraine of January 15, 2003: "...only accept for publication scientific articles that contain the following essential elements: a general statement of the problem and its connection with important scientific or practical tasks; an analysis of recent studies and publications that have initiated the solution of this problem and on which the author relies; identification of previously unidentified parts of the general problem to which the article is devoted; formulation of the article's objectives (statement of the task); presentation of the main research material with a full justification of the scientific results obtained; conclusions from this study and prospects for further research in this direction."

General requirements for manuscript formatting: A4 paper; 1.5 line spacing; 14 pt font; 2 cm margins on each side; 1 cm paragraph indentation (do not use the Tab key and spaces to create paragraph indentation); only Microsoft Word, preferably doc, not docx; font – Times New Roman; hyphenation is not used; all non-text objects must be created using Microsoft Word tools (Microsoft Excel Chart, Microsoft Equation, etc.); when creating graphs, please keep in mind that the journal is black and white.

We recommend using the sample article attached to the publication's website, based on articles already published by the publication.

Article length and structure:

1) The minimum length of an article is 8,000 characters with spaces; the most acceptable length of an article is 15,000-20,000 characters with spaces.

2) At the beginning of the main content of the article, the following information should be provided in the language of the article: surname and first name of the author(s) of the article (no more than 3 persons); place of work/study, academic degree, academic title (if any), e-mail address; ORCID ID code (if the author is not registered with ORCID, it is necessary to create an account at http://orcid.org/); title of the article in the language of the article;

3) the main content of the article must contain the following structural elements: statement of the problem; analysis of recent studies and publications; purpose; research methodology; presentation of the main material divided into sections and subsections; conclusions;

4) In the text, you should use footnotes, which should be placed at the bottom of the page (typesetting strip), separated from the main text by a horizontal line. Footnotes should be linked to the text of the document using footnote symbols, which should be placed on the top line of the font after the corresponding fragment in the text. When numbering footnotes, page numbering (Arabic numerals) should be used. Footnotes should be printed in MS Word with justified alignment; font: Times New Roman (font size – 10 pt); line spacing – 1.0 and formatted in accordance with the National Standard of Ukraine DSTU 8302:2015 "Information and documentation. Bibliographic references. General provisions and rules for compilation" and the international style of citation and reference in scientific works used in jurisprudence;

5) After the main text of the article, ‘References’ are listed separately in alphabetical order without repetition or numbering (in accordance with the APA Style Reference Citations standard). Author (transliteration), article title (transliteration), article title (in square brackets, translation into English), source title (transliteration), publication details (city in English), publisher (transliteration).

6) An abstract in Ukrainian and English is mandatory at the beginning of the article. The abstract in each language should be extended (1800–2000 characters). 

Authors from other countries who submit articles in English will be provided with free assistance in preparing an abstract in Ukrainian by the Editorial board;

7) After the abstract, keywords in the language of the abstract (5–10 words) should be provided.

Terms and conditions for submitting articles:

The author (or one of the authors, if the publication has been prepared by several authors) may submit materials in electronic or printed form (with an electronic version on a flash drive or CD). All materials in electronic form should be sent to migrlaw@gmail.com, and in printed form – delivered (sent by post) to the official address of the National Academy of Management: 15, Ushynskoho St., Kyiv, 03151.

Each issue of the journal is reviewed for publication in the Ukrainian media and recommended for printing by the Academic Council of the National Academy of Management. In accordance with the Procedure for Compiling a List of Scientific Professional Publications, the NAU publishing house distributes the journal to libraries throughout Ukraine. All issues of the journal since its inception are available on the website of the V. I. Vernadsky Library in the section ‘Scientific Periodicals of Ukraine’ and on the Academy's website. The editorial board monitors compliance with the requirements for the editorial design of scientific professional publications in accordance with established requirements and mandatory external review of works. Internal review of articles submitted for publication is also carried out.

The author is responsible for the accuracy of facts, statistical data and other information.
